On our quest to find out what happens to leftovers, we visited the nearby bakery. There we asked the baker what happens to bread, pies, pastries and cookies that are not sold and therefore not consumed.
We learnt that most products are left for a couple of days and then are turned into animal food.
The most obvious choice for bread, of course, is to turn it into toast. Finally certain products such as cakes and cookies may be processed further.
